The Club Owner
The Cellar Restaurant / Jazz Club is owned and operated by Cory Weeds who purchased it in July of 2000. It has been vote in the Top 100 Jazz Clubs Worldwide by Downbeat Magazine four times and is often compared to New York’s Village Vanguard for its ambience and acoustics.
The club has hosted the likes of Charles McPherson, Frank Wess, Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern, George Coleman, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Benny Golson, Tom Harrell, Buddy Montgomery and David Fathead Newman to name a few. It is however the local talent that graces The Cellar’s stage that makes it such a special place. The Vancouver jazz scene is very rich and diverse with incredible talent. The Cellar is a place where they can play their music uninhibited.
